David S. Schumacher, 58, of La Crosse passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

He was born Dec. 15, 1959, in La Crosse to Edwin and Valeria (Volk) Schumacher. Dave served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1977 to 1979, as corporal. He was an excellent marksman while serving in the military. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, pool, darts and delivering Meals on Wheels until myotonic dystrophy prevented him from doing the things he enjoyed most. He retired from Trane Co. after 25 years of employment. He was a huge sports fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. David was generous and kind to anyone he met.

He is survived by his wife, Patty; two sons, Greg Schumacher of La Crosse and Chris Schumacher of West Salem; one sister, Paula Krause (Chris Kettner) of Mazomanie, Wis.; three brothers, Peter (Maureen) Schumacher of La Crosse, Steve (Carol) Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Ron (Carmen) Schumacher of Menomonie, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Schumacher and Amy Mlsna, both of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kristy Schumacher; two brothers, Jeff Schumacher and Jim Schumacher.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor Park Hunter will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and again from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
